Regional Seed Librarian Hui

Community seed libraries are special things.

They help people access growing kai for very little money. Seed saving, abundance and generosity all go hand in hand.

Chrissi from Ngapeke seed library is interested in the whakapapa of seeds. She can walk around her garden and tell you the person who originally gave her each variety and where it’s from.

Sarah from Tauranga Seed Library is a fan of observation. She’s conscious about cross pollination and wants to provide the best quality seed to her community.

Jizzy and Elli are building up stocks for Katikati Seed Library. They are doing “seed of the month” to honour seeds and bring awareness.

Ben from Waihi Beach Seed Library always has seeds in his pockets.

Hester from Rotorua Seed Library keeps a self service stand at the local library and would love there to be a dedicated space in the community for growing for seed.

This was our first Regional Seed Librarian hui and big ngā mihi to Ngapeke Permaculture for hosting us.
